Director and Instructor of Information Systems

We currently have an opening for the 2019-2020 school year for a Director and Instructor of Information Systems.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in an educational setting, preferably special education

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently

  • Understanding of therapeutic milieu

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related technology, discipline, or education

  • Ability to acclimate quickly to existing infrastructure and systems

  • Working knowledge of both Windows and Mac OS environments / Windows 10 / MS Office Windows Server 2016 / Active Directory / Mac OS 10.11 and up

  • Familiarity with VM Ware / virtual environments

  • Familiarity with ChromeBooks

  • Working knowledge of Google Apps including: Google Admin / Google Docs and G-Suite for Education

  • Knowledge of GoGuardian Classroom Device Management

  • Good working knowledge of Internet Security and Data Privacy principles / Social Networking

  • Familiarity with FileWave – or similar multi-platform device manager

  • Familiarity with FileMaker Pro

  • Develop and maintain Backup Strategies

  • Familiarity with Pearson Access Next/TestNav - MCAS

  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software

  • IT Certifications helpful but not required

  • Some knowledge of phone systems

Schedule:

  • 12 months/full time

  • Salary and benefits determined by the Executive Director

 Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Gifford’s technology systems including developing and maintaining systems, training staff, contracting outside services as needed, and managing technology budget.

  • Provide regular and emergency consultation to keep technology running.

  • Respond to assistance requests and service calls, and provide daily user support for software, hardware, and classroom technology issues including specialized equipment in the computer lab.

  • Prepare, issue, and assist students in the use of technology related material and some A-V equipment, and maintain schedule and inventory of materials and equipment.

  • Assist in training teachers and students with utilizing online tools, and support students and teachers with technology that enhances digital learning in classroom.

  • Work with teachers and technology staff in the selection of resources that are compatible with the school technology infrastructure.

  • Assist programs in developing spreadsheets to manage data.

  • Assist in the development of professional development activities for staff around Web-based applications and other technology related trainings.

  • Demonstrate respect for diversity among our staff and student body and promote an atmosphere which values this diversity
