Lower School Team

Lower School Team

Dan Fuller, Assistant Principal
has been with Gifford since 1999. He has held increasingly progressive positions including Assistant Teacher, Teacher, Head Teacher and his current position, which he's held since 2006.

Favorite thing about working at Gifford?
Working as a team with dedicated, talented educators, the sense of community and belonging that Gifford creates for students, and seeing students I worked with in the Lower School receive their diplomas. Working at Gifford, I've learned that all students can achieve success, that structure and flexibility can be compatible, and that personal growth is an ongoing process.

Josh Fredrickson, Head Teacher has been with Gifford since 2007, and has been both an Assistant Teacher and Teacher prior to becoming Head Teacher in 2015.

Favorite thing about working at Gifford?
I have had the pleasure of watching former students of mine make substantial growth as they progress through their school years. Additionally I've been fortunate to attend numerous Gifford School graduation ceremonies where a former student has accepted his or her high school diploma. I cannot think of anything more rewarding than that experience. I have learned a lot from working here, however the most important thing has been to be open to new opportunities, perspectives, and approaches.

Kristi Penman, LICSW has been with Gifford since December 2014 as the Lower School Social Worker.

Favorite thing about working at Gifford?
My favorite thing about Gifford is the community. There are so many types of communities at Gifford, and each one creates a safe place for kids to belong, offering the opportunity for students to thrive socially, emotionally and academically. These communities create space for students to access support from staff and other students alike, allowing the joy of being a kid to return and the worries of past experiences begin to fade.
