Visual Arts

Gifford's art studio is housed in the Tucker Art & Scovell Library Center. The art studio is one of the many spaces at Gifford where students can feel safe, respected and challenged. Art provides a way for many students to express themselves, work with new materials, and create work of which they can be proud.

The focus of the art program changes from term to term, and offerings vary by program but may include ceramics, drawing and painting, stained glass, digital photography, and more. Activities also vary and could include making paper from raw materials and creating pottery, masks and puppets. Additionally, students visit museums and are presented with various readings to learn about the lives, work, and styles of many famous artists and then adapt those styles to use in their own personal art.

In 2015, Gifford started a new tradition giving students the opportunity to design the yearbook cover.
