Lower School Team

Chris Holmes, Assistant Principal

Chris has worked at the Gifford school for 14 years. He started as an Assistant Teacher in the High School during his first summer program and immediately knew that Gifford was a special place where he wanted to continue his professional development. Chris spent the next ten years as an Assistant Teacher, and often Charge Counselor, working in all three programs. He then got his license to teach Physical Education and was the P.E. teacher at Gifford for four years. Chris graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Journalism and is currently pursuing his Masters in Educational Management and Leadership at Fitchburg State University. He began as the Lower School Assistant Principal in the Summer Program of 2021.
Favorite thing about working at Gifford?
"My Favorite thing about working at Gifford is getting to know students as they enter the Lower School program and watching them grow and mature while developing the coping skills and self-confidence that they exhibit on Graduation Day as they proudly accept their diplomas. It can be a long and, at times, challenging process but the structure and community that Gifford provides helps our students become the best versions of themselves!"

Favorite thing about working at Gifford?
"My favorite thing about working at Gifford is getting to be a part of such a supportive community for both staff and students.  Gifford is such an inclusive and caring environment that welcomes all into our community and helps staff and students alike learn and grow."

Megan Parker, Clinician
Megan is excited to join the team as the Clinician in the Lower School. She received her MSW from Boston University and since then has worked with children and families in therapeutic school programs, summer camps, and private practice. Prior to graduate school she lived and worked in Uganda where she created a nonprofit to support at-risk families and children.

Favorite thing about working at Gifford?
"My favorite thing about Gifford so far is the team's commitment to creating a safe and inclusive space for each student. Every staff member I have met at Gifford is passionate about helping students find their place in the community and thrive both academically and socially. It's so neat to see the growth in the students as a result of being a part of a community that goes above and beyond to meet them where they are at and highlight their strengths over their challenges."
