Middle school students at The Gifford School in Weston participated in an investigative project on local endangered species, including the Northern Long-Eared Bat, the Brown Bat, the Eastern Rat Snake, the Wood Turtle, the Plymouth Red-bellied Turtle, and the Blanding's Turtle.

Projects included research on each species, why they are endangered, and practical suggestions on how we can help to rebuild habitats and populations. Some students built prototypes of bat boxes while others circulated petitions to build local support. All delivered presentations to The Gifford School community to spread awareness.
